Andrew was born and raised into a golfing family in Antioch, Illinois.  Playing primarily competitive baseball and basketball through his early years, it was in sixth grade when he dropped baseball and focused on his golf game and summer tournament schedule.  His hard work paid off as he had a wonderful junior playing career, having been invited to participate in two Wester Junior Championships (The Honors Course 1999, Rich Harvest Farms 2002) as well as top finishes in various state and national competitions throughout his junior and high school career.  Upon graduating high school, Andrew decided to play golf at Central College in Pella.  He was a four-year starter having the chance to compete in the NCAA Division III National Championships contested at Mission Inn Resort in Howie-in-the-Hills, Florida in 2005.

Immediately following graduation from Central College, Andrew enrolled in the PGA Program and worked as an Assistant Golf Professional at Sunset Ridge Country Club in Northfield, IL.  While at Sunset Ridge, Andrew started to develop his passion for teaching.  He was able to work with two very accomplished teachers in Bill Reid and Carsten Van Vuren.  From Sunset Ridge, Andrew moved on to a Lead Assistant Professional position at Wolf Creek Golf Club in Kansas City.  While at Wolf Creek, Andrew led the planning, execution, and instruction for the club’s Junior Programming, as well as, refined his skills providing individual instruction to some of Kansas’ best amateurs and budding professionals.  Some members of Wolf Creek include Tom Watson, Tom Pernice, Woody Austin, Gary Woodland, and recent winner of the RSM Classic, Robert Streb.  Andrew gained valuable insight from some the game’s legends and current stars of the PGA Tour.  Since his move back to Des Moines at the start of 2019, Andrew has spent time as an Assistant Professional at Glen Oaks Country Club and as Head Golf Professional at Echo Valley Country Club.

Andrew is extremely excited to get a chance to focus on his teaching and the success of his students.  Throughout his fourteen-year career teaching Men, Women, and Juniors of all ages and abilities, he has consistently seen his students reach and surpass their goals.  He takes great pride in seeing his students improve and uses a variety of tools to help get them there.  Whether you are a beginner brand new to the game or a seasoned tournament player, Andrew is here to help refine your skills and increase your enjoyment playing this great game!  As the new Director of Instruction at The Legacy Golf Club, Andrew looks forward to helping you play the golf of your dreams!
